Circular Coyuchi

March 24, 2022

This week our incredible partner, Coyuchi announced the launch of the first ever fully circular recycled cotton blanket. Coyuchi is the first home goods brand to sell new products made from recycling their own textiles.  Their leadership provides a spark to ignite an industry that was once linear, to a future that is circular.  Circular identifies where products come from and where will they go next.  Circular maximizes the value of the what has been created throughout the lifecycle, so there is no such thing as waste.

When a business invests in circular, the design process shifts. Instead of making a product for one sale, a brand thinks through the entire lifecycle of the product, from inception to multiple uses to disposal. Each phase of the lifecycle is considered.  Coyuchi already had a head start as the leader in organic and fair trade in the home textiles industry.  Circular was the next step to further their positive impact. Eileen Mockus, CEO of Coyuchi says “We are uniquely positioned to take this step because of our existing transparent supply chain of only the safest inputs into the product. Coyuchi could not be more thrilled to pilot a recycled product using our own fiber as the final proof of concept that we can close the loop.”

Since Coyuchi thoughtfully designs their products at inception to be durable as well as recyclable, they are showing us all that what seemed impossible is possible.  We are so proud to call them our partner and we commend everyone at Coyuchi for taking this bold vision and making a fully circular product a reality.
