Commitment to Fair Trade
Our brand partner, prAna, has been working to find innovative ways to do good things in a good way for 17 years. They innovate to create more sustainable textiles such as recycled polyester, organic cotton, recycled wool, responsible down, and hemp. They also choose to keep harmful chemicals out of their products which you can see in the bluesign certified symbol. prAna was also one of the first partners of The Renewal Workshop and together we have kept thousands of pounds of clothing and textiles out of landfill.
prAna's embrace of circular isn't the only only way they show up to make the world better. It's just the latest. Fair Trade is a fundamental part of the ethos of prAna. They became a member of the Fair Labor Association in 2010 and became the first North American apparel brand to produce Fair Trade Certified apparel They have more than 400,0,000+ to 33,000+ workers worldwide. Unraveling the Thread: The Story of Cotton was produced by Fair Trade America to provide some insight into all those involved in the production of cotton textiles.
The Fair Trade Certified™ creates a market that works for everyone involved, from farmers and factory workers, to factory owners, brands, and you. They adhere to four important pillars: rigorous standards, community develop funds, transparent supply chains, and conscious consumers. This means safe working conditions, no child or forced labor, elimination of harmful chemicals, maternity leave, and much more.
You, the customer, also participate in social responsibility when you look for and purchase clothing with the Fair Trade symbol. Each time you purchase Fair Trade Certified™ product, you directly support farmers and factory workers, helping them bridge the gap between living wage and minimum wage. prAna and The Renewal Workshop hope you will keep supporting clothing brands committed to the health of the planet and its people.
