Women in the Workshop

March 05, 2021

It is Women’s History Month. Every March we are given the opportunity to acknowledge women’s contributions to history, culture, and society.  At the Renewal Workshop, we are jumping at this chance to celebrate the women that have been and continue to be such an integral part of who we are—they are inspiring and amazing! About 75% of the roles throughout our company—including our co-founder—are held by women and we know that has been a key factor in our success.

Although the apparel industry employs millions of women, the majority of leadership roles are held by men. Women garment workers around the world carry out labor-intensive work often without the benefits a living wage or safe working conditions. Read more about women in the apparel industry here.

Fair working conditions and gender equity are interwoven with building sustainability in the apparel and textile industry. Many of our brand partners have specific commitments meant to ensure fair labor practices throughout their entire supply chain. At The Renewal Workshop we understand that how we treat people as well as how we treat the environment provides successful results for the happiness of our team and health of the planet.
